Ep. 40: Catching up with Thumb and Hammer

Well, it certainly has been a while, hasn’t it. This first episode back after a long hiatus does not have a central theme. It is more of a mish-mash of assorted ideas that you may find interesting.

What’s in a name?

(I did some plumbing). Shopping online is convenient, but some things can be difficult to find when you don’t know exactly the right name of what you are looking for.

Apples to Apples

(I bought a sander). The best buy may not be the best buy if some accessories are sold separately.

Why I ended up buying a new-to-me Table Saw

(I bought a used table saw). My old table saw bit the dust. Or did it? So I replaced a 20+ year old table saw with a 20+ year old table saw. Call it a restoration project, because, as luck would have it, the purchase may not have been necessary after all.

Sticker Shock

I was reminded of the financial incentive of DIY when we considered hiring a contractor to build us a new fireplace surround with built-ins.

Real Estate pt 1: Holy crap did we make the right decision

Spoiler alert: our current house has jumped in value thanks to the upward trend in our local real estate market. Our timing couldn’t have been better.

Real Estate pt 2: The new owner of the “Money Pit House” is living our dream

The new owner of our old house has finished what we started. That’s all I’m going to say about it here. You’ll have to listen to find out what he has done. But suffice to say I am just a wee bit jealous.
