A friend recommended QVS Electrical wholesale (www.qvsdirect.com) for everything i should need when doing up my new home - Wiring, Fittings, Tools, Lighting, Heating, Sockets the lot. Apparently they are cheap, reliable an offer really good support. Does anyone have any comments?
First of all, I thought I had the forum off-line while I tweaked a few errors. My apologies for responding two weeks later.
I am in North America while QVS is in the UK, but I asked myself, location aside, whether they are a company I would deal with and the answer is "yes."
For on-line transactions, I always look for a street address for the company and alternative means of contact. Phone, email, live chat are all present on the website and the head office address is also listed at the bottom of each page. They offer a secure shopping cart, which is an absolute MUST.
As for the products that are offered and the prices, I am not qualified to make any comparisons at this time.
I usually like to see some additional company information (who are we? why are our prices so low? how long have we been in business?). I have sent them an email as of 9:10am (EDT) Saturday October 7. Their response and how quickly they send it should give you more insight into how reputable they are. Stay tuned.
Update: QVS never responded to my email requesting additional company information (years in business, etc). While this diminishes my opinion of them somewhat, for what it's worth, speaking for myself, I would still be comfortable ordering from them.
